How Fast Must I Be Moving (A Poem)
How fast must your mind be moving to only see two options
White or Black.
How quick you are to jump to conclusions when you only judge
Right or Wrong.
And how afraid must you be to see a choice so dire with only these outcomes
Good or Bad.
How fast are you moving through life
Missing out on the nuances and complexities.
Moving past the opportunities to understand and to be free.
How afraid of intimacy are you to feel so uncomfortable in this space
In the silence
With me.
Every pang you feel inside is a reminder to get you to
Slow down.
Make a choice.
Oh choices oh choices
In between running and stopping
Is a deep breath
The breath is a reminder of the closeness you need in this moment.
To feel the intimate nature of being still with yourself
With your experience of you
In this moment.
Just a little.
Just be.
And who am I to want this for you
To simply be.
To want your slowness.
So that you can be slow with me.
I must be missing something.
How fast must I be moving.
